Privacy policy

This policy applies to visitors, adult account holders, learner profiles, teacher applicants, verified teachers, and people who contact eMakatib. eMakatib is operated from India and is responsible for the information described here.

We collect account details such as your name, email address, profile image, sign-in provider, country, time zone, and account role.

For learners, we collect the display name, relationship to the account holder, learning needs, language, and booking history. For teachers, we collect application details, biography, teaching experience, availability, offerings, identity or qualification evidence when supplied, review status, and payout records.

We also process booking, manual payment records, refund records, support, security, device, log, and lesson-room participation information. Payments happen outside the platform; the administrator records the amount, method, and reference. eMakatib does not store complete card numbers.

A child does not create an eMakatib account. A parent or legal guardian creates and manages the learner profile, gives the information needed for lessons, and controls bookings and payments.

We ask adults to provide only the minimum information needed to teach and protect the child. Do not add school records, medical details, identity documents, home addresses, or other sensitive information unless eMakatib specifically requests it for a clear safety or legal reason.

A booked teacher receives only the learner and booking information needed to prepare and deliver the lesson. Teachers do not receive payment-card details.

Authorised eMakatib administrators may review account, booking, support, safety, teacher evidence, and payment information when their work requires it.

We use service providers for sign-in, hosting, database, private file storage, payment processing, email, video lessons, security, and operational support. They process information under their own terms and only for the service they provide. Information may be processed outside India because these providers operate internationally.

A verified teacher’s name, profile image, location, biography, teaching approach, languages, subjects, offerings, and verification state may appear publicly.

Contact details, identity files, qualification files, private review notes, learner profiles, bookings, payment records, and payout records are not public. Teacher evidence is stored privately and is available only to the teacher and authorised administrators.

eMakatib uses essential cookies to keep you signed in, protect requests, remember necessary choices, and maintain service security. Google sign-in is subject to Google’s privacy terms. We do not use essential-cookie consent as permission for unrelated advertising.

The video provider processes the audio, video, screen-sharing, whiteboard data, connection details, and participant information needed for a live lesson. eMakatib does not record lessons by default. A participant must not record a lesson without the consent required by our terms and safeguarding policy.

We keep information only while it is needed for an account, booking, teacher review, safety matter, dispute, payment, payout, or legal duty. Financial records may remain after an account closes when tax, accounting, fraud-prevention, or legal rules require them.

When information is no longer needed, we delete it or remove identifying details. Backup copies can remain for a limited recovery period before they are overwritten.

You can ask us to provide, correct, update, or delete your personal information. You can also withdraw consent where processing depends on consent, object to certain use, or ask how a decision was made.

Some requests can be limited when we must keep records, protect another person, prevent fraud, resolve a dispute, or comply with law. We may ask you to verify your identity before acting.

We use access controls, secure connections, private file storage, short-lived lesson-room access, and other safeguards appropriate to the information. No online service can guarantee complete security. Contact us promptly if you believe an account or personal information is at risk.

We may update this policy when the service, providers, or legal requirements change. We will update the date above and give reasonable notice of a material change.
